Because of the international situation brought on by coronavirus, the EPTA Executive team has sadly decided to postpone the forthcoming EPTA conference from summer 2020, as set out in more detail below:
1] Conference is now postponed until 5 to 8 July 2021, to be held in the same venue – CTSS, Warsaw – and with the same theme.
4] Those who have already paid have the choice either of a refund or for their monies to be held until next year, in which case for them only the 2020 price will be held (they will be contacted individually to discuss this).
5] The 2020 Annual Business Meeting is cancelled.
6] Simo Frestadius’s election as chair from 2020 was agreed at the 2019 ABM, and handover will occur on 1st July 2020. At that point, he ceases to be vice-chair. Election of the vice-chair is postponed until 2021, so this position will be vacant for a year.
7] Pasi Parkkila has kindly offered already to stay on the Exec until 2021 if no 2020 ABM occurs and this offer is gratefully taken up.
Pentecostal Ministries: Cultures, Genders, and Roles
The College of Theology and Social Sciences in Warsaw, Poland.
EPTA conferences combine academic papers and discussion with times of worship, fellowship and prayer for those who wish—and this year’s will be no exception. The formal programme leaves plenty of free time for personal interaction between delegates. In particular, there will be a free afternoon for outings, including a tour of Warsaw Old Town.
The theme of the conference will be ‘Pentecostal Ministries: Cultures, Genders, and Roles’. Academic papers will be presented and discussions will be held on various aspects of this topic and its ramifications in Pentecostal life and mission in Europe today.
Anyone interested in giving a paper, please send a 200 to 300 word abstract, by way of proposal, to email@example.com.
All members of EPTA are encouraged to attend. As ever, others interested in the work of EPTA are warmly welcome, especially research students. Those living in or near Warsaw are welcome as day visitors. Pastors and others involved in church life on a day-to-day basis will find much of interest in the conference. (Please note that the conference will be conducted in the English language, and no simultaneous translation will be provided.) There are day rates for local visitors (see below).
Conference places are only available for EU passport holders or those who have permission or a visa to enter the EU. Apologies to all others as EPTA cannot facilitate visa entries.
The 2020 venue is the College of Theology and Social Sciences, Wyborna 20 Street, Warsaw, Poland (Wyzsza Szkola Teologiczno-Spoleczna).
Limited accommodation is available at CTSS (up to 24 persons in shared rooms—one twin room with two single beds and a budget arrangement in dormitories with up to 6 single beds per room; fees are set out below). Sheets and towels will be provided to all accommodated on campus. There are shared washing and toilet facilities. There is a lift/elevator to the twin bedroom but not to the dormitory bedrooms. Accommodation is offered on a first-come, first-served basis. No CTSS accommodation is available for fewer than the full three nights.
Meals provided by CTSS can include vegetarian and gluten-free. Sadly, vegan diets or other dietary intolerances cannot be catered for. Please indicate any special requirements at online registration.
As accommodation at CTSS is limited and some is basic, many delegates will probably choose to reserve accommodation at a local hotel. One is particularly recommended: the Arkadia Hotel, Radzymińska 182, 03-671 Warszawa, PL (https://www.hotelarkadia.pl/en/), which is close to CTSS. Please make a direct reservation with your chosen hotel. At the Arkadia, you can claim a 15% discount if you say you are a delegate of the EPTA conference at the CTSS at Wyborna 20 Street (Wyzsza Szkola Teologiczno-Spoleczna). As of January 2020, the price of Double Standard Room after discount is about 45 € per night (breakfast included).
Those staying in hotels will need to make their own transport arrangements to the conference venue. The Arkadia Hotel is eight minutes’ walk from CTSS.
Total fees: Please pay once you receive your personalised invoice which will be sent to you after your online registration. All registration payments must be in Euros. Note, however, that Polish currency is Zloty, not Euros, in case you wish to bring cash for small expenses.

CTSS Accommodation fee. For those staying at CTSS, accommodation is reserved and paid for through EPTA. It is set by CTSS, and will be passed on by EPTA to the college. For visitors attending only one or two days, the cost of lunch, evening meal and refreshments is 20 € per day.
As usual, an informal bookstall will run throughout the conference. Any delegate wishing to bring items for sale is invited to do so. The stall will be unstaffed, operating on a trust basis.
Information on travel to the campus from Warsaw Chopin and Modlin Airports, and from the main train station, will be provided to delegates approximately one month in advance of the conference, because timetables may change in the intervening months.
Note: All those attending the conference must submit an online registration form. A separate form must be filled out for each person attending. A personalised invoice for payment will be sent following online registration.
By giving your name and institution on the online registration form, you thereby permit these details to be shared with other conference delegates. Other personal details, such as your email address, will not be shared with them.
